The Forbidden Valley: Book 1, Chapter 2

Master of 7 Masters:
The Quest to Finding Your Inner Self

A Transfer Student
It has been nearly eighteen years since Lorelei and Sam were born. Throughout their lives, they moved from place to place with their family. Their mother never told them the reason why they did that. She only told them, “Just do as we say and in the future you will know why and understand our reasons for doing the things we have done.” She kissed their heads and stood up in front of them. This happened eight years ago. Now both Lorelei and Sam are grown adults. They live in Karrino, one of the two villages located on the other side of the mountains. The Alanius Mountains are located ahead of the Karrino village and behind the Forbidden Valley. There, in the Forbidden Valley lies the realm of the darkness and its monstrous beings. The villagers have lived to the law being forbidden to go near. Especially to their children who have curiosity to go near it. Years back, a man tried to go to the Forbidden Valley and built a path to try and reach it. He died while building the path; but before his death, he finished it. Now many of the villagers worry that their children or someone from the Forbidden Valley will use that path to come or go in it.

“I told you I’d beat you” Lorelei stood at the top of the footsteps waiting for Sam to get there. “You only won because you made me trip over with your foot,” Sam ran and reached her. He rested hands on knees while looking at her sister. “I did not, it was a rock. You always blame me when you loose. You should learn to accept your losses Sammy,” a distant bell rang and they both looked back. They saw the school bell ringing and looked at one another. “We’re late!” they screamed. They ran fast towards their school not resting one bit. Lorelei founded easy to run with her short blue shorts and white top. Sam founded a bit hard to run with his brown sandals and his long curls wondering about his head. “Remember, we are to meet behind the bushes in the corner of Mrs. Myers’ house.” Lorelei looked at him and ran to the left side towards the girls’ schooling classes. “I know, I know, take good care sis and behave this time okay?” Sam looked at her sister and went off to his class on the opposite side where boys had their classes.

Throughout her class, Lorelei thought of what her mother had told her brother last night. “Sam my son, we need to talk.” his mother looked at Sam with a concerning face. Then she looked at Lorelei. “Lorelei, stay here and prepare dinner while me and your brother go out to the garden.” “Yes mother,” replied Lorelei, though she knew she was not going to stay and prepare dinner. “Come on son,” she walked outside and waited for her son at the door steps.

“Class, this is Michael. He will be with us for the rest of the semester. Please welcome him with a friendly hand and help him accommodate to our customs.” The class looked at him with curiosity. Many whispered and wondered who he was, why was he transferred, and where did he come from. “Hi, my name is Michael as Mrs. Sharon has said. I used to live in Delphia Village. My family moved to Karrino Village last week. I hope that we can all become friend,” As Michael said that last phrase, he glared at Lorelei with a wary smile and daunting eyes.

“Sam, there is something that I have kept from you and your sister for a long time,” Sam looked at her mother. He was curious of what his mother would say next though he try to not to show it. He felt this was a moment to feel sincere and respectful towards what his mother was saying. “Then shouldn’t Lorelei be here to listen as well? If it has something to do with the both of us, then we should both be here to listen to you,” The mother looks at her son and the way he cares about his sister. He looked at him and said sincerely, “Son, what I’m about to tell you, does not concern your sister. It is more about you than about her. Please just understand me and listen to what I have to say.” Sam worried now of what his mother had to say. The more words she spoke to him, the more curious he became. “Mother I understand please continues.” he smiled and looked her in the eyes.

Lorelei listened closely to every word both her mother and brother said. She was curious and concerned about what her mother would say to Sam. When she had heard the words her mother said, “It does not concern your sister” it was all she could think about. “It is more about you than her,” she felt hurt, yet just the same as her brother she understood.  Every word her mother said to Sam worried her, scared her, and nearly made her cry.

“Sam, nineteen years ago the monks sung a prophecy about a child. He was to be born in Karrino Village. This child, my son, was to safe our lands from the horrible disasters that have occurred throughout the years. He was to get rid of the darkness and it monstrous beings and tear down the path between us and the Forbidden Valley,” Sam listened closely to every word his mother was saying. He had heard of that prophecy, but many of the villagers had said it was only a myth because no boy had ever shown up and it’s been over nineteen years now since the monks’ prophecy was prophesized. “I’ve heard of that prophecy. But the villagers said it was not real,” Sam replied to her mother looking at her. She showed no sign or happiness. The woman standing before her no longer appeared to be the mother Sam has known since birth. She now seemed a mystery to him. “I know, but do not believe them. The prophecy is true. The child was born and he will fulfill the prophecy but in time,” She looked at him and half smiled. “But mother, how you know that? The child never came. Look at us now; the world is falling apart and I see no child coming to save our lives and get rid of the darkness or its destructive beings. How can you have such hope mother, when I see nothing but destruction and the end of us?”

Lorelei could not hold it any longer. She did not like the way his brother spoke to her mother. It was not respecting. After she had done for them; she found it disrespectful and hurting. “Because are to never give up brother. There is still hope. Never loose hope my brother; it is all we got. Maybe this child has not been born or has not come to save us. But look at us brother. We are still alive and with our mother. Most children don’t even have their parents. We are lucky to have her with us,” Sam and her mother looked at Lorelei shocked not only of what she was saying but of her sudden appearance. Her mother looked at Lorelei and said, “Lorelei, I told you to stay inside the house. Why did ignore my orders? Well I guess it’s alright.” She sighs and looked at Sam, “Sam, son I tell you this; the prophecy and the lies that the villagers have said. I know they lie because son; you are the chosen child.” Sam fell to this news surprised and looked down his mother looked down at him waiting for a response. Lorelei laid standing still shocked. A tear went down her soft skinned face and she looked at her mother.
